Privacy Policy for URL Status & SEO Index Check

Last updated: 21.05.2026

URL Status & SEO Index Check is a Chrome extension developed by Webtaktika. The extension helps users analyze the current page URL for SEO purposes, including HTTP status, redirect chains, response headers, robots.txt rules, SEO tags, canonical URL, and page availability for search engine indexing.

Data processed by the extension

To provide its core functionality, the extension processes technical information from the current browser tab locally in the user's browser.

The extension may process the following types of data:

  • current page URL;
  • final URL after redirects;
  • HTTP status codes;
  • redirect chain;
  • response headers;
  • optional Set-Cookie metadata from response headers;
  • response timing information;
  • robots.txt rules from the checked website;
  • SEO tags from the current page, including meta robots, meta googlebot, meta yandex, meta bingbot, canonical URL, and meta refresh;
  • X-Robots-Tag header values;
  • observed client-side URL changes required to detect client-side redirects;
  • extension settings such as language, enabled search bots, robots.txt user-agents, slow redirect threshold, cookie display preferences, and other display preferences.

Web browsing activity and website content

In the Chrome Web Store privacy form, the extension discloses that it processes Web browsing activity and Website content.

This is because the extension needs to read the current page URL, redirect chain, response headers, robots.txt rules, and SEO-related page tags in order to generate the report shown to the user.

The extension does not collect general browsing history. It does not create or store a history of websites visited by the user. It only processes information required for the current SEO check.

How the data is used

The processed data is used only to display the SEO report inside the extension popup and to let the user copy or export the current report.

The extension does not use this data for advertising, analytics, user profiling, tracking, personalization, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single SEO-checking functionality.

Data sharing and transmission

URL Status & SEO Index Check does not transmit checked URLs, headers, cookies, website content, reports, or extension settings to Webtaktika or to third parties.

The extension may request the robots.txt file from the website origin being checked in order to evaluate robots.txt rules. This request is part of the local SEO check and is not sent to Webtaktika or unrelated third parties.

The extension does not sell, rent, transfer, or share user data with third parties.

The extension does not use external analytics services, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or third-party telemetry.

Local processing and storage

All checks are processed locally in the user's browser.

Extension settings are stored locally using Chrome storage. These settings may include language, enabled search bots, robots.txt user-agents, slow redirect threshold, cookie display preferences, and display preferences.

Current check snapshots are stored locally and session-only to display the report for the active tab. They are not stored as a browsing history database.

robots.txt responses from checked websites may be cached in memory for a short time per site origin to avoid repeated requests when the user checks multiple pages of the same website. This cache is local, temporary, and can be bypassed by using the "Recheck without cache" action.

Cookies

The extension does not request Chrome's cookies permission and does not read the browser cookie jar.

Optional Set-Cookie metadata collection is disabled by default. If the user enables this feature, the extension may display technical Set-Cookie metadata observed in HTTP response headers during the current check, such as cookie name, domain, path, expiration, Max-Age, Secure, HttpOnly, and SameSite attributes.

Cookie values may contain identifiers, session tokens, or tracking IDs. For this reason, cookie values are hidden by default and are not written to Chrome storage, not exported to CSV, not included in copied reports, and not transmitted to Webtaktika or third parties.

If the user explicitly enables showing cookie values, they are shown only locally in the current extension popup for the current check.

Remote code

The extension does not use remote code. All JavaScript, CSS, images, and other extension resources are included in the extension package.

The extension does not load external scripts, does not execute remotely hosted code, and does not use eval.

Permissions

The extension uses browser permissions only to provide its SEO-checking functionality.

  • webRequest: used to observe HTTP status codes, redirect chains, response headers, and timings for the currently checked page. Optional Set-Cookie metadata collection is disabled by default and is used only when enabled by the user. The extension does not modify, block, or redirect requests.
  • storage: used to store local extension settings such as language, enabled search bots, robots.txt user-agents, slow redirect threshold, cookie display preferences, and display preferences. Current tab check snapshots are stored locally/session-only and are not stored as browsing history.
  • webNavigation: used to detect main-frame navigation and client-side URL changes, including History API changes, so the redirect chain shown to the user is accurate. It is not used to collect or store browsing history.
  • downloads: used only when the user explicitly exports the current URL report as a CSV file. The extension does not read, monitor, modify, pause, resume, or manage the user's other downloads.
  • Host permissions for HTTP and HTTPS websites: required to run SEO checks on arbitrary HTTP and HTTPS pages selected by the user. The extension processes the current page URL, headers, redirects, robots.txt rules, and SEO tags locally in the browser. It does not read form fields, passwords, browser history, bookmarks, or the browser cookie jar, and does not send checked data to external servers.

The extension does not use permissions to collect data for advertising, analytics, tracking, or monetization.

Limited use statement

URL Status & SEO Index Check uses data only to provide or improve its single purpose: local SEO diagnostics for the current URL.

The extension does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to its core functionality. It does not use user data for personalized advertising, retargeting, interest-based advertising, creditworthiness, lending, employment, or eligibility decisions.

User control

Users can change extension settings such as language, enabled search bots, robots.txt user-agents, slow redirect threshold, cookie display preferences, and other display preferences in the extension settings page.

Users can use the "Recheck without cache" action to bypass the temporary robots.txt in-memory cache for the current check.

Users can uninstall the extension at any time from the Chrome Extensions page.
